The Breeding Building The Breeding Building
This is the place where it all starts. Here is where the breeding banks are set. The foods are mixed, the newborns tended to, and records are kept. This is where most of my Lady Gouldian Finches are bred. A truly special place. This was the first finch sanctuary that my Husband built for me and my beloved birds.
The building measures 20' x 10' and has all necessary equipement for making a bird room function with ease.

The Human Bird House resulted from the house next door being bought for real estate investment. Until the market turns around we have no plans on doing much with the house so I figured it would make a lovely home for my finches and would give me great room to try many different types of settings. My husband has been a miracle worker making my visions become reality.
The house has been split up into many different avairies and cage rooms that are described in the following catergories.

The PineTree Aviary The Pine Tree Aviary
A large indoor aviary with murrals of pine trees and artificial pine trees and ivy. Created to give the feeling of sitting on the stone terrace with arbor and water fountain overlooking the meadow at the edge of the woods. Measure 16' x 14'. Also includes a nest wall of unique wood nestboxes, natural tree limbs, vines and hanging bird feeders. This aviary is mostly used for breeding several pairs in a colony setting, whether they be gouldians, parrot finches, or goldbreast waxbills.

The Planted Aviary
The planted  aviary is an enclosed carport. It has welded wire on the inside of the frame and screen for mosquito protection on the outside of the frame. In winter I attach thick plastic sheeting to the outer frame and this keeps the drafts out and holds the sun's heat in throughout the night. On nights that temperatures drop below 50%,  I have an oil filled electric radiator that will keep it comfortable for the birds.
The aviary measures approximately 16' x 9'. The aviary also has a built in rack that will hold up to nine 36" tallx 30" long x 18" wide flight cages. This makes seperating some pairs for breeding or grow out cages for youngsters convienant.
The floor is concrete but the plants are in large containers and hanging baskets, thus the planted name. In the winter I remove the plants and replace with dried bamboo and grasses I grow here on the property. The birds love the winter seed and natural nesting materials.

The Finch Nook Aviary
A wired enclosed outdoor area 7' x 4' 6". This is where the flock of Goldbreast Waxbills live.

The Rose Aviary The Rose Aviary
An indoor aviary measuring 8' x 2'. A converted closet in the South West Room of the 'Crazy Bird House'. It has rose bushes and vine murals with butterflies. ladybugs, catterpillars, honey bees, grasshoppers and crickets. A wonderful breeding aviary for a pair of my Red Throat Parrot Finches.
The Wildflower Aviary
An indoor Aviary measuring 8' x 2'. A converted closet in the South East Room of the 'Crazy Bird House'.  It has wildflower murals. and grape vines.  The built in shelves were left and serve as a nesting cubby hole and feed station.
The Sun Room Aviary The Sunroom Aviary
Pure viewing enjoyment. Has different occupants from time to time. 6' x 3' area.

The Balcony Aviary
This is an area is a 19' x 8' space. It has been enclosed with welded wire and screen.  There are nine 5 foot flight for young birds for grow out or seperated mating pairs to stretch their wings and rest until nest breeding season.  There are also three 30 " wide by 55" high cages for young birds.  They really enjoy the sunshine.
South West Cage Room
This is a room containing approximately 20 black cages from 30"wide  x 18" deep in varying heights, 18", 36" and 55".  Currently housing Red Throated Parrot Finches as they grow out.
North Cage Room
This room contains 25 cages and is where I have foster Society Fiches and many young Gouldians coloring out.
This is the third section of the downstairs covered outside aviaries. It has a sink and shelves for cages or storage. Also could be used as a free flying aviary.
This is my second breeding area for gouldian finches.  A low counter was installed to hold cages and also cage racks on rollers are used. There are seventeen 30" breeding cages and sixteen  24" breeding cages.
